A VERY GOOD PLACE TO START
Given that I hadn’t touched my old website in a while, it wasn’t too much of a surprise to discover that the domain had expired. What was I was definitely not expecting was for the domain name to now belong to someone else.
(Seriously?)
After the requisite tantrum had been thrown, the logical next step was to ponder deeply the purpose behind all this writing on the internet. I mean, it’s been over a decade since I published my first post to the world wide web. And while I may not have done anything too noteworthy in terms of success on a digital platform, I have managed to collect dozens and dozens of true tales about my life as a mother, a teacher, a woman, a human being striving to be better. What it all amounts to, as it turns out, is basically an epic poem about nothing in particular. An ode to the everyday, a common song.
Because I’m not terribly savvy with code and the like, it will probably be a while before any of my previous content migrates over this way, and it will be even longer before things like links and images are fixed. But, while I’m at it, I figure I may as well compile all the different chapters of my story and organize them once and for all at a single address.
These are the scattered thoughts fueling this miniature personal revolution. Which brings me here, to the writing of this very thing that, more than anything, is a love letter to my future self. A postcard from along the way, to add to my collection.
Now, can someone please tell me where January has gone?
